Designed to be consistent and uniform, the Porter-Cable 5553 No. 20 Biscuits do not swell until they soak up water-based glues. This process ensures a more hardy wood joint and reliable results. Comprised of flattened beech wood, these handy little biscuits conform with slots made by all standard plate joiners. And since every package contains 1,000 biscuits, you'll always have plenty on-hand.

Bulk biscuits

I bought these biscuits through Amazon because I can only get packages of 250 locally. Even so, I only saved about $1 over the cost of buying the smaller packs. Still, you can't beat the convenience of ordering from Amazon.

ACCEPTABLE

The order and delivery service was terrific.
The package contained about 5-10% swollen biscuits and about 1% flaked biscuits but rest were great and worth the sale price.

Biscuits need special storage
»
Like any beech wood these pieces re subject to absorbing ambient moisture from the (shop)air and thereby making an easy fit into a bisuit slot somewhat difficult. They shouldbe stored in an airtight jar with a 3/4 cup of cheap cat litter to absorb any moisture and be therefore ready in any circumstance.

Biscuit Bonding
»
These wood biscuits work really well while joining your frames together. They help to stablize and strenghten your wood frames without the awkwardness of doweling and within moments the strength of the biscuit and glue create a lasting bond.
